Practically half-way through the month of May and Sendai is becoming more beautiful every day. The trees are green again and the weather is warm. If you don’t live here, well, I’m sure God has graced you to endure the city you live in. Praise the Lord, ay!

So, here’s the news:

We’ve now done six Sundays as a proper church and it feels great. There’s a whole new level of momentum, and in the last two weeks we’ve seen our biggest numbers ever! And most importantly, we’re seeing lives changed every week and hearing incredible testimonies all the time.

For our first five weeks we were at a place called Flying Son, but from last Sunday we’re in our new venue, Livehouse Enn. It’s an incredible place in a great location and we couldn’t be happier to be there!

If you live in the area and are looking for a church, come check us out! Also, anyone can join, so even if you’re not a Christian and not looking for a church, that’s okay! Church is a great place to improve your English, make international friends, or just listen to live music.

If you have any questions, feel free to drop us a line at sendai@jesuslifehouse.com

See you on Sunday!

The last two weeks have been nothing short of incredible.

On February 26th, we had our first ever proper church service! 50 people attended our “Church Preview,” with four making decisions to follow Jesus! What the heck! God is doing a new thing in Tohoku!

For now, we’re back in my living room every Sunday, but we made a very special announcement at the Church Preview. That announcement is…

Official church launch on April 1st! That means regular weekly church services! No more humble living room, but instead we’ll be in a live house with a full band for worship! Yeah!

You’ve got to come check it out! You don’t have to be a Christian, either! If you’re interested in music, English, or you just want to mingle in an international environment, you are more than welcome to join us!

Check out the flyer and map below for more details:

In other news, we made history last Sunday with our first ever baptisms! Nothing like seeing three beautiful Japanese people making the public declaration that Jesus is Lord of their lives! I’ll never be tired of seeing people overflowing with the joy and peace of the Holy Spirit.

This is why we came to Sendai!

Amazing things are happening, but the truth is that we’re still short of workers. If you’d like to join our team for a year as an intern, please get in touch with us by using the contact form on this website. Cheers!

Until next time,

Jeff

After a solid three-month hiatus, I have chosen to repent of my non-blogging ways.

There’s now too much to share, but I will sum it all up for you: God is good.

By His grace we were able to see record numbers at our pre-church meeting last week (29 people!). Yes, we’ve completely outgrown our current “venue” and are making arrangements now to move to a more suitable location where we can launch the church.

But in the meantime…we’re having a one-time Church Preview Service on February 26th! Believe me, this will be awesome. You don’t wanna miss it!

The details are on the flyer below, so check it out!

Hi everyone! Jeff again!

It’s been another great week in Sendai with too many interesting developments to talk about here. But trust me, things are going very well!

Last weekend, a record number of students who participated in our Tohoku Relief Homestay program joined us for our pre-church meeting on Sunday. It was great to spend time with them and tell them more about God’s love and His amazing plans for their lives.

The last couple of meetings have been held at our apartment, but it’s starting to get a little cramped, so we’re now going into frantic venue-search mode! We’re absolutely believing that God is going to provide us with an amazing place where we can gather to worship Him. So, look forward to a venue update in the not-so-distant future!

In other church news, we’re all getting together to hang out this Saturday night, October 22nd, to eat Thai food at a restaurant called Mango Tree Café at 6:00 PM. It’s located in Sendai Parco on the 9th floor. Only a 1 minute walk from Sendai station. (Nice.)

If you’d like to come along and enjoy a spicy dinner with an international flavor (English conversation chance!) then please feel free to join us! All you have to do is send an email to JLHSendai@gmail.com saying “I wanna go!” with your name, and we’ll put you on the VIP list. However, be warned that we can only have a maximum of 20 people, so it’s first come first served. Hurry hurry and sign up!

Also, we’ll be gathering for our pre-church meeting the same as usual on Sunday at 1:00 PM on the 2nd floor of AER, just outside the Starbucks. Don’t miss it!

Hope to meet you this weekend on Saturday and/or Sunday!

Hello, interwebs! Jeff from JLH Sendai here.

Our small but passionate team from Tokyo has officially moved to Sendai (and surrounding regions). That means this church plant has officially begun. Yeah!

I can’t fully express the excitement that we’re all feeling in these early stages, but believe me when I say we’re pumped to be here! It’s amazing to see what God is already doing and to be a part of His plan for Tohoku.

We’ve had two of what I call “pre-church meetings” so far, and they have been awesome! God has brought all sorts of people from different backgrounds together to help build this church. It’s already got an international feel, though we’re mostly Japanese.

We’re only just getting started, but we’re all really feeling the grace of God on what we’re doing.

If you’d like to be a part of JLH Sendai, or if you’re just interested in hearing about God and Christianity, or even if you’re just interested in practicing your English, please don’t hesitate to join us! Anybody and everybody is welcome! We’re currently meeting every Sunday at 1:00 PM on the 2nd floor of AER just outside the Starbucks. From there we’ll go wherever we can all fit!

If you have any questions at all, feel free to email us at sendai@jesuslifehouse.com or check out our website at sendai.jesuslifehouse.com

Bye for now!

Jeff
